Counting Sheep Storytelling Sessions

Pick up a blanket and a hot water bottle, and maybe a hot drink and sweet treat, and snuggle down to enjoy an expertly told ‘sheepish’ tale.

Daily at 11am, 12.30pm and 2pm

For children aged 9 and under, Makaton assisted. Capacity of 25 children (plus their parent/carer)

Make a new friend and enjoy a heart-warming story when you join professional actor and Makaton signer, Becca Hulbert, for one of our signed story sessions in the shelter of the Reserve Yard tent.

We're uncovering the story behind the advice that has been passed down through generations: if you can’t get to sleep, just “count sheep” until you drift off into a peaceful slumber.

It is thought the saying originated centuries ago with sheep herders who couldn’t sleep until they had counted all of their sheep to make sure none were missing.

Each session contains an opportunity to make your very own worry sharing sheep; off-load your woes on your little woolly friend, pop him under your pillow and he will do all the worrying for you, leaving you a peaceful night’s sleep.

Both storytelling and craft are free with garden entry but will need to be pre-booked as capacity for these sessions is limited.
