Wild Food Walk
31st October 2012
On 31st October and 1st November during the Heligan Harvest Display, wild food forager Rachel Lambert, will be offering Wild Harvest Food Walks at The Lost Gardens of Heligan.
Get back to nature with an experienced forager and explore the wild side of the Heligan Estate. Discover how to identify wild plants for culinary and medicinal use and learn about their fascinating history, as Rachel explains how such plants were once used and how we can use them today.
The walk will begin at Horsemoor Hide; the heart of Heligan’s pioneering Wildlife Project. From the Hide you will set out on a mini adventure to explore the surrounding hedgerows, fields and ancient woodland borders, identifying the vast array of wild food growing in these different habitats along the way.
Rachel Lambert has been identifying and foraging for wild food since 1996, and started leading walks in 2007. Rachel explains; “throughout my life nature has been a consistent theme and learning about and enjoying wild edible plants really does provide food for the body, mind and soul.”
Whether you are an experienced forager or a complete beginner, a food-lover, or nature enthusiast there will be something for everyone during these Wild Harvest Food Walks, so come and discover the abundance of wild food growing locally and develop skills and confidence to forage on your own.
