Terms & Conditions

  • Pre-booked tickets are valid for a specific fifteen-minute slot on a specific day, are non-refundable and cannot be transferred to another day. If you're stuck in traffic and are delayed, please don't worry, we'll still welcome you to the gardens.
     
  • “There's no such thing as bad weather, only unsuitable clothing”. We advise that when booking, please look ahead at the local weather forecast as our tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable.
    The Lost Gardens of Heligan are not responsible or liable for garden closure or event cancellation due to events beyond our control (a ‘Force Majeure Event’). We’ll notify you as soon as possible of a Force Majeure Event, we’ll try to re-open as soon as it’s safe for us to do so (and transfer your tickets to a new date), and in the event of a Force Majeure Event and where we’re unable to reschedule or reopen in time, you will not be entitled to a refund.
      
  • Visiting Members and Local Pass Holders must bring their valid membership cards with them for presentation at the ticket office.
      
  • All children must be accompanied by an adult.
     
  • There will be no charge for children under the age of five years or for the carers of our visitors. Please select complimentary tickets for these visitors upon booking.

As a Heligan Local Pass holder, you are entitled, upon presentation of a valid Heligan Local Pass card, to the following benefits:

  1. a) Free and unlimited entry to The Lost Gardens of Heligan during normal garden opening hours
  2. b) Discounts and/or priority booking at selected ticketed events.

Your Local Passes are valid for an initial term of 12 months from the date of purchase.
 
Heligan Local Passes are issued to all named pass holders.

Heligan Local Passes and associated benefits are strictly non-transferable and can only be used by the named member.

The Lost Gardens of Heligan reserves the right to terminate Heligan Local Passes without refunding the Local Pass fee in the following circumstances:

  • On notification of the death of a pass holder.
  • On receipt of a written or verbal notification to cancel by the member.
  • By discretion of the Managing Director if the behaviour of an individual or member of their party is deemed to be inappropriate and in violation of our policy.




As a member of The Lost Gardens of Heligan, you are entitled, upon presentation of a valid membership card, to the following benefits:

a) Free and unlimited entry to The Lost Gardens of Heligan during normal garden opening hours.
b) 10% discount on some items within the Heligan Kitchen, Heligan Shop and Plant Centre.
c) Discounts and/or priority booking at selected ticketed events.
d) Discounted garden entry for guests who are accompanied by a named member.
e) Exclusive members only early entry between 9am and 10am on Fridays and Saturday throughout the months of April, May, June, July, August and September.
f) Free member entry to the Eden Project, Trebah Garden, Minack Theatre, Wheal Martyn & National Maritime Museum (Cornwall) in the months of January and November on presentation of a valid Heligan Membership card.

Your membership is valid for an initial term of 12 months from the date of purchase.
 
Membership cards are issued to all named members.

Membership cards and associated benefits are strictly non-transferable and can only be used by the named member.

The Lost Gardens of Heligan reserves the right to terminate membership without refunding the membership fee in the following circumstances:

  • On notification of the death of a member.
  • On receipt of a written or verbal notification to cancel by the member.
  • By discretion of the Managing Director if the behaviour of an individual or member of their party is deemed to be inappropriate and in violation of our policy.

  • Heligan retains the right to introduce or remove price offers and discounts to garden admission and for membership and local passes at certain times of year and at our discretion.
  • Special rates apply to educational groups, youth groups such as cub scouts and brownies, Group Travel Organisers, Tour Operators etc. Please click here contact Group Booking Team for further information.
  • The Lost Gardens of Heligan welcomes visitors with disabilities. A complimentary carer may visit the Gardens with any disabled guest. Please be sure to book this carer ticket alongside entry tickets. Proof may be required (such as orange/blue badge) at the point of entry into Heligan to redeem the complimentary carer ticket.
  • Heligan operates a policy of no refunds or exchanges for tickets booked online.
  • Heligan uses CCTV for security purposes across the site. This is managed in accordance with GDPR restrictions. You can read our Privacy Policy here.
  • Heligan provides an interactive experiences with some of our animals and wildlife to enrich your understanding and enjoyment during your visit. These activities have been risk assessed to ensure that measures are in place for hygiene and to prevent serious injury. We cannot guarantee that minor contact such as a nibble or peck won’t occur. Visitors must not feed any of the animals, even with grass, under any circumstance.
  • You enter the Jungle and Gardens as well as Home Farm and other animal areas at your own risk. Heligan accepts no responsibility for damage, accident or loss to persons, vehicles or property caused by any animal, other than in respect of death or injury caused by negligence, both within the gardens and in the carparks.
  • You may use the play equipment and Heligan Play Areas at your own risk, as you alone know your families abilities and limits. Our play areas are not always staffed and so children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Our play equipment is ROSPER safety checked.
  • We are unable to take responsibility for tickets purchased through unofficial ticket partners or social media (e.g Facebook). Any promotional codes and/or tickets which are sold through external sites without Heligan’s permission may not be valid for entry.
  • Online discounts may be introduced at certain times of year via special promotional codes. These will be at Heligan’s discretion. Heligan will withdraw any promotional codes if Heligan believes that they are abused in any way including promotion on auction sites such as Ebay.
  • Possession of the E-Ticketing Booking Confirmation will be regarded as proof of purchase and will entitle you to the relevant number and type of tickets purchased.
  • Credit card transactions are made on a separate secure server with full encryption of all credit card data. Your credit card details and personal information will not be shared with any other company or organisation.
  • Special events may occasionally necessitate restricted access or additional charges to enter Heligan.
  • Please note that dogs are permitted to Heligan but must adhere to our Dogs Policy including using a short, non extendable lead. Any dogs and their owners not adhering to this policy will be asked to leave.
  • Heligan reserves the right to close to the public, withdraw any attraction, alter times, prices and events or services without notice.
  • Heligan reserves the right to request further identification at the point of entry.
  • Heligan reserves the right to refuse entry.

  • We are proud to be a working estate, for safety reasons please
    observe all warning signs and temporary access restrictions.
    Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
  • Stout footwear is strongly advised.
  • BEWARE - Slipping/tripping hazards, reduced headroom and deep pools along your route.
  • Machinery and vehicles may be in use and livestock may be found in public access areas.
  • Vehicles are parked at owner’s risk and pets should not be left in them at any time.
  • No overnight parking is permitted in any vehicle within the Heligan Main and Overflow Car parks.

Heligan Members and Local Pass Holders must also pre-book Heligan Night Garden tickets, using their pass number to pre book on the website when prompted.

  • Bad weather / event cancellation

“There's no such thing as bad weather, only unsuitable clothing”. We advise that when booking, please look ahead at the local weather forecast as our tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable. The Lost Gardens of Heligan are not responsible or liable for garden closure or event cancellation due to events beyond our control (a ‘Force Majeure Event’). We’ll notify you as soon as possible of a Force Majeure Event, we’ll try to re-open as soon as it’s safe for us to do so (and transfer your tickets to a new date). In the unlikely event of a Force Majeure Event and where we’re unable to reschedule or reopen in time, you will not be entitled to a refund.

If you have purchased Heligan Night Garden Ticket Protection you may transfer the date of your Night Garden Tickets once. To do this you will need to call the reception team on 01726 845 100 up to 24hrs before the original start date of your booking.

  • Accessibility, children and dogs

All children must be accompanied by an adult. There will be no charge for children under the age of three years or for the carers of our visitors. Please select complimentary tickets for these visitors upon booking.

We do not recommend you bring dogs with you to Heligan Night Garden, however the route is suitable for assistance dogs.

Heligan Night Garden is suitable for wheelchair users, as well as for pushchairs and prams, but please be aware that part of the route is through a woodland area and so paths may be uneven.

Information about Night Garden Ticket Protection

The Night Garden Ticket Protection costs £6 per booking and enables each ticket within that booking to be moved to an alternative Night Garden date at the choice of the lead booker. This gives you peace of mind if you require flexibility because you think your plans may change, or you wish to choose a different date depending on the weather.

Please note that for all other visitors who do not purchase Night Garden Ticket Protection, the Night Garden tickets are non-transferable and non-refundable.

Buying a Night Garden Ticket Protection

You can purchase Night Garden Ticket Protection when you buy your usual Night Garden event ticket online. You will need to keep hold of your confirmation email that you receive confirming purchase.

You can also purchase Night Garden Ticket Protection in a separate transaction. However, in order to change the dates of your visit you must have purchased the Night Garden Ticket Protection at least 24 hours before your original event admission.

Night Garden Ticket Protection is only available for the Heligan Night Garden and not for Father Christmas tickets.

Using your Night Garden Ticket Protection

You are able to change the date of your Night Garden tickets once. You can do this up to 24 hours before your original ticketed admission time. To do this you will need to call our reception team on 01726 845 100, with your original booking confirmation reference number.

Exemptions

  • Changes to the date may only be made by calling our Heligan Reception team on 01726 845 100 during their office hours at least 24 hours before the original admission time of the Night Garden tickets
  • If it is less than 24 hours before your visit you will be unable to change your ticket date.
  • The transfer of your original booking to an alternative date and time is subject to availability

    Night Garden tickets are subject to these terms and conditions.
  • In the event that the Night Garden event is closed by Heligan for adverse weather conditions (such as high wind speeds which would be unsafe) we will either offer our visitors affected the chance to re-book on an alternative date or a full refund, even if they have not purchased Night Garden Ticket Protection.
  • Night Garden Ticket Protection is only available for the Heligan Night Garden and not for Father Christmas tickets.
  • This does not affect your statutory rights.

IGeneral Terms

These terms and conditions relate to the standard, paid for events hosted by The Lost Gardens of Heligan, excluding Heligan Night Garden (and Heligan Night Garden Ticket Protection).

These events include activities such as, but not exclusively, Father Christmas, Halloween Parties, evening talks and canapes, Lost Suppers and Christmas lunches. 

Ticket information

All tickets are, unless in the circumstances given below, non-transferable and non-refundable. If you are unable to attend an event for whatever reason, then we are unable to process a refund.

Prices are correct as listed on Heligan.com and we reserve the right to change the price, issue or remove discounts and remove products from sale without notice. 

We cannot guarantee that we will be able to deliver the event to the best of our ability if you do not provide correct information at point of booking. This can include customer information such as children's names and ages, or dietary preferences. 

Inclement weather

The Lost Gardens of Heligan is an outdoor attraction with some indoor spaces such as cafes and restaurants. If there is bad weather during the planned event such as rain, winds or cold temperatures, we continue with the event unless the senior management team decide it is unsafe to do so. In the instance that the event runs despite inclement weather, you will not be eligible for a refund and are unable to move or cancel your ticket. 

If an event is cancelled by Heligan

In the scenario that we have to cancel the event for whatever reason, such as we decide it is unsafe for the event to continue (extreme temperatures, Red weather warnings issued, flooding, extreme wind, staffing levels) we will contact you via email or phone number to either try to move your booking to an alternative date, or to issue you a refund. 

Lost Suppers and Christmas Lunches

Please note that booking details such as dietary preferences must be confirmed at least 48 hours before the event start to allow our team time to prepare properly for the event. Beyond this time we cannot accept any changes to bookings. 

There are separate terms and conditions for our visitors who have booked a wedding package with Heligan Gardens. 

Arrival time

Please arrive in plenty of time to be at The Lost Gardens of Heligan for the start of your event. If you arrive late then you may not be able to fulfil all or part of the experience (eg Father Christmas). 

Please note these terms do not affect your statutory rights. 

 

DEPOSIT

To confirm your booking, a non-refundable deposit of £100.00 is required, to be paid within 14 days of issue of this contract. Your payment of this deposit confirms your acceptance of our terms and conditions. Please note the deposit will be applied to your final invoice.

 

PAYMENT OF INVOICE

Upon your acceptance of our quotation an invoice (minus your deposit) will be issued payable 14 days after your event date.

GUEST CANCELLATION & FINAL NUMBERS

All catering details, including menu, bar/wine selections and room set up, must be received 10 business days prior to your event.

  • Guest final numbers are required 10 days before event date.
  • Guest cancellation: Notified more than 10 days before event date, no charge for guest cancellation.
  • Guest cancellation: Notified less than 10 days, full amount will be charged for each guest due to placement of food orders with suppliers by this time.

 

EVENT CANCELLATION

All cancellations must be sent by email and confirmed by Heligan Gardens Ltd.

  • If the event is cancelled more than 30 days before event date, deposit is transferrable to an alternative date within 12 months of your original booking.
  • If the event is cancelled less than 30 days before event date, 50% of estimated cost is due, this is transferrable to an alternative date within 12 months of your original booking.
  • If the event is cancelled less than 10 days before event date, 100% of estimated cost is due which is non-transferable, due to placement of food orders with suppliers by this time.

COVID POLICY

If necessary, and in line with government recommendations, we will re-evaluate the above terms, ensuring we are not penalising our clients for making responsible decisions. However, if the event is cancelled with less than 5 days’ notice, 100% of estimated cost is due and is not transferrable to an alternative date due to placement of food orders with suppliers by this time. We understand that everyone’s situation/scenario is different, so please contact Heligan Gardens Ltd. if you have any queries.

 

 

DATE AVAILABILITY

Due to garden events throughout the season, not all dates and times will be available. Please contact Heligan Gardens Ltd. for inquiries.

 

DRINKS

All beverages, including alcoholic and non-alcoholic, must be purchased onsite and drunk within your designated areas. No outside beverages can be brought onsite without prior written consent from Heligan Gardens Ltd.

 

ALLERGIES & DIETARY

If anyone attending your event has an allergy, please provide a written description of the nature of the allergy and the first and last name of the guest. Should this information not be provided, you shall indemnify and hold us forever harmless from and against, any and all liability or claim of liability for any personal injury.

 

BUFFET LEFTOVERS

To ensure sufficient selection and quantities for all attendees, Heligan Gardens Ltd. have a policy of providing a good amount of food on our buffets. This may result in food being ‘leftover’ at the end of an event. Guests are not permitted to remove any ‘leftover’ foods from the premises due to Food Safe restrictions.

 

DÉCOR

Decorations of any description will not be allowed without the prior written consent of Heligan Gardens Ltd. No hybrid or fake flowers are permitted at the venue. Candles shall only be provided and lit on the premises by Heligan Gardens Ltd. staff. No items may be hung or attached to buildings without written prior consent. No entertainment involving special effects is permitted.

 

NOISE ABATEMENT

To ensure the comfort and enjoyment of all our guests, you are reminded to keep noise to an acceptable level as to not disturb other’s. Music is allowed onsite until 23:00, with a strict cut off at this point. All guests must leave the venue at this time to adhere to noise restrictions within the local area.

 

GUEST PARKING

Parking is available for all guests in the Heligan car park. If guests wish to leave their vehicles, they do so entirely at their own risk and Heligan Gardens Ltd. accept no responsibility for the vehicles or their contents.

 

SIGNAGE, BANNERS & DISPLAYS

Signage denoting company details is not permitted in common areas without prior approval. The Lost Gardens of Heligan team is happy to direct your guests to the rented event space upon their arrival. The fastening of any signage to any surface is prohibited. Heligan Gardens Ltd. assume no responsibility for any items of the Convenor, Guests, or Suppliers of your event.

 

MEDIA & PHOTOGRAPHY

Heligan Gardens Ltd. will not publish any photographs or videos of your corporate event without your written consent. The Lost Gardens of Heligan logo must not be used without prior written permission from Heligan Gardens Ltd.

 

SHIPPING & RECEIVING

Due to the limited storage space, shipments of packages will be accepted free of charge 1 day prior to the event date. Please ensure all packages are clearly labelled with the name of the event and sent to the attention of Louise Eade, The Lost Gardens of Heligan.

 

STORAGE

All items for your event must be removed immediately following your event’s completion. Limited overnight storage is available for a £25 surcharge. Heligan Gardens Ltd. assume no responsibility for any items of the Convenor, Guests, or Suppliers of your event.

 

 

 

EXTERNAL SUPPLIERS & LOADING/UNLOADING

A list of all external suppliers, including full contact details, must be provided to Heligan Gardens Ltd., 10 days before your event. This will grant access for loading/unloading at our delivery entrance located behind Catering at The Lost Gardens of Heligan.

 

DAMAGE CLAUSE

In the unlikely event that damage to Heligan Gardens Ltd. property occurs as a result of any action by any guest of the host person/organization, the host person/organization agrees to assume all liability and expense and agrees that, in addition to any other rights as against such guest or others, Heligan Gardens Ltd. may charge the host person/organization for all such charges. The host person/organization shall indemnify, defend and hold harmless Heligan Gardens Ltd. and its officers, directors, partners, affiliates, members and employees from and against all demands, claims, damages to persons and/or property, losses and liabilities, including reasonable attorney fees (collectively “Claims”) arising out of or caused by the host person/ organization’s negligence or intentional misconduct. The host person/organization shall not have waived or be deemed to have waived, by reason of this paragraph, any defence that it may have with respect to such claims. Any repairs or replacement shall be conducted by Heligan Gardens Ltd. and its approved contractors and suppliers.

 

FORCE MAJEURE

The performance of this Agreement is subject to any circumstances making it illegal or impossible to provide or use The Lost Gardens of Heligan facilities, including Acts of God, war, government regulations, disaster, strikes, civil disorder or curtailment of transportation facilities. This Agreement may be terminated for any one of the above reasons by written notice from Heligan Gardens Ltd.

EPOSIT

To confirm your booking, a non-refundable deposit of 50% of estimated total, is required. Your payment of this deposit confirms your acceptance of our terms and conditions. Please note the deposit will be applied to your final invoice.

 

PAYMENT OF INVOICE

Upon your acceptance of our quotation an estimated 100% invoice (minus your deposit) will be issued payable 28 days prior to your event date. Any outstanding balance is due within 28 days of your event completion. For bookings made less than 6 weeks prior to the event date, the estimated 100% will be due at the time of booking.

GUEST CANCELLATION & FINAL NUMBERS

All catering details, including menu, bar/wine selections and room set up, must be received 10 business days prior to your event.

  • Guest final numbers are required 10 days before event date.
  • Guest cancellation: Notified more than 10 days before event date, no charge for guest cancellation.
  • Guest cancellation: Notified less than 10 days, full amount will be charged for each guest due to placement of food orders with suppliers by this time.

 

EVENT CANCELLATION

DATE AVAILABILITY

Wedding dates are limited to Saturday and Sunday throughout July-August due to increased visitor numbers. Wedding dates are available all days September-October and January-June. Due to garden events throughout the season, not all dates and times will be available. No weddings to be held November-December.

 

REGISTRAR FEES

The Registrar fees are in addition and payable directly to Cornwall County Council. When booking a civil ceremony, you will need to liaise with both the Council and Heligan Gardens Ltd. to ensure the required date and time is available to you.

 

PRE-CEREMONY FOOD & DRINK

No food or alcoholic drinks can be served or consumed in the specified ceremony area, up to 1 hour before the proceeding. This is laid down in statute and not by Heligan Gardens Ltd.

 

RELIGIOUS CONTENT

The ceremony may not have any religious content e.g., music or readings.

 

DRINKS

All beverages, including alcoholic and non-alcoholic, must be purchased onsite and drunk within your designated areas. No outside beverages can be brought onsite without prior written consent from Heligan Gardens Ltd.

 

ALLERGIES & DIETARY

Due to the garden being in operation with visitors, specific times will be agreed to ensure both the couple and visitors receive the best experience. Heligan Gardens Ltd. will not publish any photographs or videos of your wedding day without your written consent. The Lost Gardens of Heligan logo must not be used without prior written permission from Heligan Gardens Ltd.

 

SHIPPING & RECEIVING

In order to ensure the safety of all wedding guests, as well as visitors to Heligan Gardens Ltd., a member of security will be provided for the duration of your event. This will mean that no visitor can enter your designated wedding area and no wedding guest can exit the designated wedding area without our notice.

FORCE MAJEURE

The performance of this Agreement is subject to any circumstances making it illegal or impossible to provide or use The Lost Gardens of Heligan facilities, including Acts of God, war, government regulations, disaster, strikes, civil disorder or curtailment of transportation facilities. This Agreement may be terminated for any one of the above reasons by written notice from Heligan Gardens Ltd.
