Festive Visitors Raise over £12,500 for Local Charities

Our festive visitors have helped us raise over £12,500 as we opened our gates for two charity days on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
Over the course of the two days, we welcomed over 6250 visitors, who came to walk off the festive excesses, blow away the cobwebs and enjoy a winter stroll through the historic 200 acre estate with family and friends. These annual charity days proved to be as popular as ever smashing all previous records and helping to kick start the fundraising year for four local charities. The local community and the atmosphere created in the gardens over these charity days was the epitome of generosity showing that Christmas really was ‘the season for giving’.

Our visitors raised an incredible £12,985.00 which will be shared equally between this year’s chosen local charities - Cornwall Air Ambulance, People & Gardens, Spectrum and the Sowenna Appeal.
Ken Radford, Manager of People and Gardens said, “We are once again overawed by the support from Heligan Gardens staff, and their lovely visitors.
This money will help us to continue to enable people with physical and emotional impairments to learn work and social skills in order for them to be able to take control over their own lives.”
