Heligan Chosen Charity 2025

  • 10th Oct 2024

Since opening our gates to the public in 1992, we have been very proud to support a number of local charities in raising tens of thousands of pounds of vital funds.

Each year, the team at The Lost Gardens of Heligan select a charity to support for the year and we’re now looking for a charity to support in 2025.

This year has seen us supporting and working with First Light.

First Light is a charity for anyone who is experiencing or has experienced domestic abuse or sexual violence.

The charity provides a range of support in Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, Swindon and Wiltshire, and across England & Wales.

Anyone can be affected by domestic abuse and sexual violence, and First Light support people of all ages and genders, including people with a disability and members of the LGBTQ+ community.

If you, or someone you know, needs help, please click here to get in touch with First Light.

We began the year with our annual charity day on New Year’s Day where the garden gates were opened on behalf of First Light. All revenue generated from ticket sales, and donations from our visitors, were donated to this very deserving cause.

Throughout the year, the Heligan Team have also supported First Light in a number of different ways.

April saw members of the Heligan Team crossing the Tamar to take part in Britain's Ocean City Running Festival in aid of First Light.

With this being the first event for most of the team, we were incredibly proud to be able to raise £1,680 in sponsorship for First Light.

We’ve also created Bird Boxes and chopping boards to raise money and awareness for First Light, hosted a wellbeing day for First Light volunteers, partnered with valuable media coverage and much more.

As we look ahead to 2025, we invite charities to fill in the form below to apply to be our next chosen charity. If you work for a local charity and would like to work with us next year, we’d love to hear from you.

All applications must be submitted by Monday 4th November to provide us with enough time to review each submission and to prepare for fundraising to begin on New Year’s Day 2025.
