Heligan’s Double Treble!!!

What an amazing year we have had already, and we have done it again! With our second hat trick of the year, as last night we were named as the winner of Best UK Leisure and Heritage Attraction in the prestigious 2018 British Travel Awards.  The announcement was made on 28 November at a glamorous Gala Awards ceremony, held in London and attended by more than 800 travel industry people.

We are honoured to be presented with this prestigious award again and to be recognised for all our hard work by our loyal visitors. It is an incredible achievement!” George Elworthy- Managing Director at The Lost Gardens of Heligan.

This concludes an impressive year for the Gardens. So far this year we have been awarded gold at The Cornwall Tourism Awards as Large Visitor Attraction, crowned BBC Countryfile Magazine’s ‘Garden of the Year’ and we were also voted Number 1 Garden in the South West by Garden News Magazine. This latest win in the BTA’s is our 3rd year in a row taking home the title of Best UK Leisure attraction. With two rounds of hat tricks under our belt, the  whole team here at Heligan are riding on a real high.

British Travel Awards’ chief executive Lorraine Barnes Burton said: “The Lost Gardens of Heligan is to be congratulated on winning the Best UK Leisure Attraction. The British Travel Awards is the largest consumer voted awards programme in the world. Votes were cast by the travelling public to determine the winners and to win is truly an accolade and a badge of excellence.” 

It wasn’t just a great night for the Lost Gardens of Heligan but for Cornwall as a whole! Visit Cornwall secured the Silver award for Best UK Holiday Destination and Bude achieved Gold in the Best Seaside Town category.
